Managersim - The Hardest Retro Football Manager Game ONLINE

ManagerSim is a football (soccer in some parts of the world) management simulation game. As a football club manager, you buy and sell players, set up tactics, handle the economy and much, much more. The really unique part of ManagerSim is that you play against hundreds of other human managers in the same Game World.

Each Game World is a simulation of the European football scene. Up to 50 European countries are represented - some Game Worlds have more countries than others do. At the moment, about 900 teams and 39000 players exist in the smaller GameWorlds. Apart from divisional matches and national cups, Champions League, UEFA Cup, even Toto Cup (known as "Inter-Toto Cup") matches are played; in addition, you can schedule friendly matches with other teams. National team management is not possible, but international games are played and players called up to national team.

ManagerSim is an online web-based game, played through your browser; no software is needed. In fact, you can play it from any* computer, so long as it is connected to the Internet.

During your online session, you can make alterations to your team, send messages to other managers, apply for jobs etc. You then wait for the game tick, after which you can see the effect of your decisions. Some actions will happen between game tick, such as incoming messages from other managers and occasionally from your own players or staff at the club where you manage.

Success is measured subjectively. Clearly, winning national and European championships and cups is one measure. Others include rising in the manager rankings, improving the status of a poor teams and / or achieving success in weaker countries.

Since changes made to the game a few years back, failure is usually a case of achieving relegation / mediocrity, although if you don't handle your economy sensibly, bankruptcy will usually end in the sack which is, by most people's standards, a fair measure of failure.

* Beware using a computer with the same I.P. address as another manager. This may include other people using the same computer network as you at school, university, library, internet cafe etc. You may end up being accused of cheating. See the rules.

In-game forum

Please, bring it back.
We all can see this is not working for the community.

Re: In-game forum

I had this same exact thought last night, the forum has gone from a hive of activity to a ghost town.

You are using this forum, which proves it's working, what stops you from writing here? :)

C'mon BK. No more than 10 people posted in here since it migrated. It's just unpleasant to post here.

How is this different from the other very basic and locked on updating forum?
Just click and add a message? Is it the colors? groups? What is the problem really?

We have much better tools in this forum really..
TBH, not sure we even need a forum at this stage ( within the game ).

Re: In-game forum

I think there is two or three points with this forum that make people uneasy to post here:
1- You need to do a second login, with a different user.
2-The messages aren't direct to see, you need to enter subtopics like this (General Talks).
3- It's nightmare to write more the 4 lines when using the cell phone (Android 6) as the scroll doesn't work right.

Re: In-game forum

1. This can surely be fixed, not sure if this is much work though. You do not need a second login, after logging in to the game, your manager name becomes the name on the forum. So once logged in to the game, registering in the forums will auto-fill your manager name.

2. Usually new messages are indicated so one click away.

3. Yeah, web was there first then phones came along, not many things in the game are suitable for using on phone.

The main benefit by having the forum in separate database, is ease of backup/setup/maintain/manage and not locking the forums while updating the game world. We have no idea where we are 6 months or a year from now.

I'd prefer changing everything to Slack but no idea if the free version would be good enough..

At the moment I have much pressing issues to deal with honestly.
You will see and appreciate it before end of May.

Re: In-game forum

I liked the old forum much more.
This forum  feels so "not part of the game "
Older forum was more visited.
It feels like  time has stopoed when visiting this forum..

Re: In-game forum

Cool guys, but the game needs to move on.
Forums in general are no longer part of any game. We will continue to improve things and move on with development. We are trying to move on and make a game that will be playable in 2016 and forward by mass audience not 100 guys who used to play the game.

Re: In-game forum

I agree this forum is way better and that the game need to move forward, I just wanted to point some reasons why people don´t use it as much.

But I strongly disagree with your remark: "Forums in general are no longer part of any game.". Every management or  MMOG game I ever played on internet have a strong forum and it usually build a strong community sense around the forum. Discussing, bragging, complaining, etc is part of human nature and human interaction and unless you have a sistem to allow communication inside game like on PS4 or xBox or using teamSpeaker it will need a forum or something alike.

Rodrigo, yeah, a mmog depend much on their forums community to introduce new players into the game and as soon as you go over to mobile, that's gone. So yes, you are right MMOG's do need a vibrant community where game and other issues are discussed daily or frequently and adds something to the game.

Managersim is perhaps not a MMOG in the same sense. Closes thing you can call it is simulation perhaps.
The in-game  forum was perhaps fun but was mainly used to banter and not that nice things (even if some people enjoy that as really fun to read).

Going forward towards mobile, we don't know what the future holds, claiming to know that, would be foolish of me.
Communication where you have live streams is much more "slack" than forum, while you have the capability to store important things, go back and revisit the important things, so it's a massive chat + forums in a way. Much more live thing than the static forum things.

But listen, I don't claim I decide this or own this decision, if board says to bring it back - I will change the code to forward to internal forums, no big deal.

Thanks for your feedback.

Re: In-game forum

You are probably right about mobile, I confess I am not a mobile player, so I can´t give an opinion on that.
Slack is a good option, just not sure how it will work with a massive number or players, but maybe with the right channels it could be great.

Thanks for the answers, and finally this forum get some activity :-)
